How do you have it? On your eggs? Between your hot dog bun? A few drops on your hash browns? Or do you not like it at all? Well if you dont know what I’m referring to its the liquid sugary salty goodness and breakfast of champions called KETCHUP!

Heinz Ketchup is holding a kids contest of students from schools across the U.S. in grades K-12 are who are invited to show their artwork creativity for a chance to have their creation appear on millions of Heinz Ketchup packets!

One of the top 12 winners will be chosen as the “grand prize winner” and his/her artwork and will appear on approximately 2.5 million Heinz Ketchup bottles

To The winning student will receive a $5,700 cash prize for the distinction as Heinz’s first Ketchup Creativity bottle artist and grand prize winner!

Here are some of the important dates for the contest:

America votes for grand prize winners: March 22 – March 27, 2010

Heinz selects overall winner: March 2010

Winners publicly announced on or around: April 1, 2010

Winners’ designs exhibited in Winners’ Gallery: June 2010

School awards ceremonies: May/June 2010

Easter Egg Potted Plants Kids Craft

Kids can create an Easter inspired table decoration using fake eggs and mini pots!

Project inspired by using Bostik supplies:

Supplies Needed:

6 Polystyrene eggs
6 Small Terracotta pots
Ribbon, green tinsel, paper or foam letters to spell EASTER
Colored sticks or straws
Loose Glitter
Craft paint
Super Glue
Hot Glue Gun
Multi-Colored Mini Rhinestones, and any other decorations of choice for Eggs

Directions:
1. Set aside 6 small terracotta pots and glue on your Easter letters.
2. Decorate the rims with loose glitter and fill the pots with green tinsel.
3. Now paint your polystyrene eggs with paint and set aside to dry.
4. Then decorate the eggs as desired.
5. Once done, insert a stick or straw into the bottom of each egg and secure with super glue or hot glue gun.
6. Position and secure each straw or stick into the pots with a blob hot glue.
7. Now make and stick little ribbon bows onto the bottom of each egg with super glue.
8. Enjoy!

March is here which means we are months closer to SPRING! My cherry blossom tree in my front yard is already blooming, the blooms are so beautiful and have such a lovely scent when the sun comes out and carries it though with the wind.

Last year during the month of March I wrote up a few creative posts on St.Patrick’s Day crafts, treats, and party game ideas. This post is going to be a re-visit of those St.Patrick’s Day posts!

Paint Chip Samples and Swatches

Paint chip samples and swatches are helpful when considering color options for a home painting project. They are available at home improvement stores in an array of shapes, colors, and sizes to help choose what color is best for the project.

The best part about paint chip samples and swatches they are FREE! There really isn’t a rule to how many swatches you can help yourself to, but by taking handfuls some may feel guilty. So each time you stop off, just take a few or whatever COLOR you are feeling for that day.

If you have a lot of paint chip samples on hand you can use them in a crafty way as decor for your home.

Something fun to do at Christmas many of us grew up doing is making/decorating a Gingerbread House! Many companies now have put together Gingerbread House Kits that you can purchase that cuts out all the baking of the pieces and allows you to jump right to it and start decorating which is always the fun part.

Jeff and I bought a Gingerbread House Kit at Target for $10. The Gingerbread House Kit had all the house pieces already precooked and ready to assemble with tons of candy and icing to start decorating once opened.

If you are looking for Christmas Art Ideas to do by yourself or with the kids The Usborne Book of Christmas Art Ideas is a great book that has festive projects for all ages! I had this book at my old child care center I used to work at and used is pretty much every day during our art time. Each page in the book has highly colored step by step pictures of Christmas Art Ideas and tutorials on how to create the project. A lot of the projects can be done with little supplies so if you are in the crafty mood on a lazy Sunday afternoon most likely you will have all the supplies already.

Amazon always has great deals on books and is my #1 place I buy books. I found the exact Christmas Art Ideas book on Amazon for a good deal so check it out!

Funky Foam Christmas Tree Card

I have been looking around online for ideas to create my own Christmas cards! I love making my Christmas cards by hand, the past few years when I have sent out a lot I made homemade ones for family and sent out store bought for friends. This year I’m sticking to just sending cards to family since I’m trying to be a bit more frugal because it can add up quick when you send out close to 20 cards.

Below is a cute Christmas card found at Its A Creative World that can be done at home which little ones can help out too! The tree and star is cut out of foam sheets then used like a stamp by dipping into ink and stamped onto desired sheet. Foam sheets are very inexpensive, you can get a stack at the dollar store. Great product.

I miss creating handprint Turkey’s with my kiddos at my old site I used to work at! To me handprint Turkeys mean Thanksgiving, its just one of those things I grew up doing every year when I was little and now as an adult like to carry on the tradition in any way that I can.
